Amarilis Rockhill

School Director
Executive Director of After School Program

I have been an educator and community advocate for over 18 years, working with students from pre-school to adult.

I founded and successfully run The Bridgeport CT Center of The Arts Inc (Formerly Bridgeport Children's Conservatory of The Arts.) My organization began as performing arts school, but over the years evolved into an all around resource center for our participants and their families. We are currently, on our second year as a high school home school co-op, serving students grades 7th to 12th. We offer mentoring, career services and referrals for our students and their parents and have recently set up housing for a group of our graduates. As a teacher at Love Christian Academy, I was involved in curriculum development, fund raising and started/ran the performing arts program as well as science enrichment program. I guided my 8th grade students through the high school entrance process, from application to entrance exam. At Harding High School I was a Resource Center Program Director which involved oversight of the operation of all educational and recreational programs at Harding High School. This included supervision of staff, program and budget development, record keeping and maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, faculty and staff.

I am certified in Mental Health First Aid, Teen/Adolescent Trauma and Substance abuse, Suicide Prevention, and as a life coach. I have completed the Registered Behavioral Technician training and I'm certified by the National Tutoring Association.

Samantha Ortiz-Morrobel

Behavioral Intervention Coordinator
Assistant After School Director
First Day Director, Summer Sessions
Teacher (Grades 3 - 5)

My name is Samantha Ortiz-Morrobel and my dedication is the well being of all those who get to know me.

I have been working in mental and behavioral health since early 2018, where I had my start as a Behavioral Technician and ever since then my interests in Behavioral Sciences and Education have only peaked. I am currently an alumni of Charter Oak State College in pursuit of a B.S. in Child Studies and Housatonic Community College's A.S. in Graphic Design and Multimedia. I have numerous certifications in mental health from a number of accredited organizations and plan to continue to develop my knowledge for the years to come.

I began to pursue my interest in education and mental health as a Behavioral Technician for children ranging from 3 to 15 years old and soon after found myself doing just that for a second grade class within Wallingford's school system. As a Behavioral Technician my main objective was to create a sense of individuality and optimism in the children under my watch--which gave them the sense of a brighter future and gave them a full understanding of their capabilities. As a previous alumni of BCCA and a partner of AIL I have acquired knowledge to help empower those under my wing.

Our Story

We've loved every minute of our journey!

Effective Teaching Is The Passion & Driving Force Behind AIL

In every classroom she's created, Amarilis has strived to make it the second home for her students. She believes a classroom is a student's second home, a learning tool, and a safe heaven. As she's evolved in her teaching career, she's ensured that every classroom was an inviting space, conducive to learning and fun. Her classes, in all the grades she has taught, is an interactive place. Every inch of the classroom (floor to ceiling) serves a purpose in learning.

AIL Is Education That Prioritizes The Arts, Culture, STEM & Humanity

Through the arts, our students explore their individual creativity and learn about themselves. Through culture, they learn to understand where they come from, and most importantly, their peers. Through STEM, they learn transferable skills from sciences, technology, engineering and mathematics--which can be used throughout their entire life.

Teaching all of this from a compassionate, empowering and enlightening approach helps our students identify their value and share it with the world.
